Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain efficiently the titled resin particles which do not form string- like materials, by conducting mixing at a low speed while keeping the mixing temperature within a specified range in the mixing of an org. peroxide with polyolefin resin particles to disperse said peroxide in said particles and to make said peroxide to be absorbed by said particles.
CONSTITUTION: A particulate polyolefin resin and an org. peroxide such as dicumyl peroxide as a crosslinking agent are mixed together by a low-speed stirring mixer at 200r.p.m. or lower such as a ribbon blender or a tumbler while keeping the mixing temperature between 70°C and a temp. lower than the melting point of the polyolefin resin, whereby the crosslinking agent is rapidly absorbed by said resin particles to obtain the desired crosslinkable polyolefin resin particles. This process has the following advantages. The crosslinking agent does not remain on the surfaces of the polyolefin resin particles. String-like materials are not formed. A scorching phenomenon during processing does not occur, because the particles do not have heat history.
