Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled quick lime which excels in dispersibility and does not increase the compression set of a rubber compsn. when the quick lime is blended with the rubber compsn., by a method wherein the surface of the quick lime particle is coated with a higher fatty acid having not more than 10 carbon atoms.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of quick lime particle is coated with a higher fatty acid (having not more than 10 carbon atoms and a melting point not higher than a rubber mixing temperature) in an amount ranging up to 1.5 times the amount by weight of the quick lime. For example, stearic acid is heated and melted and a predetermined amount of the quick lime is mixed with the molten stearic acid. The resulting mixt. is cooled in a desiccator. When it is desired to reduce the coated amount, the coated layer may be formed by mixing the quick lime with an org. solvent solution of the fatty acid and then drying the mixt. to remove the org. solvent.
