Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a modified polypropylene composition containing an unsaturated carboxylic acid in a low graft amount and having good adhesiveness, by a method wherein a modified polypropylene obtained by a melt kneading process is heat treated and, thereafter, a low-density polyethylene is mixed therewith.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture comprising polypropylene, an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and an org. peroxide is melted and kneaded to obtain a modified polypropylene. Subsequently, said modified polypropylene is heat treated at 60°C or higher, pref. 100°C or higher and 95W50pts.wt. resulting heat treated modified polypropylene is mixed with 10W50pts.wt. low-density polyethylene. As the unsaturated carboxylic acid to be used, maleic anhydride is most pref. The heat treatment is desirably carried out by heating and degassing said modified polypropylene so as to adjust an amount of an unreacted monomer therein to 0.05mol% or less. As the low-density polyethylene to be used, one with an MF of 10.5W30g/10min and a specific gravity of 0.915W0.940 is preferred.
