PURPOSE:To prevent a motor and a power source from overloading irrespective of the state of a load by setting the output frequency of the power source slightly larger than the value converted from the rotating speed of a motor in frequency at the time of starting the motor. CONSTITUTION:A controller 6 feeds a control signal to a voltage regulator 7 and a frequency regulator 8 in accordance with a signal from a set converter 5 so that the ratio of the output voltage to the output frequency becomes constant. The regulators 7 and 8 controls a rectifier 2 and a power inverter 3 in accordance with the control signals. The converter 5 converts the rotating speed signal of a motor 4 outputted from a rotating speed detector 9 into a frequency value, and feeds a signal to the controller 6 so that it becomes slightly higher than this value. In this manner, even if load condition is varied, the motor and the power source may not become overload.
