Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the hue of a chrominance signal on the carrier wave with simple constitution by supplying two 90 deg. out-of-phase input chrominance signals to two variable gain circuits and by adding the outputs of those variable gain circuits together. CONSTITUTION:An input chrominance signal is supplied to a balanced modulator 1, and another chrominance signal shifted in phase via a 90 deg. phase-shifting circuit 7 is supplied to a balanced modulator 2. Then, the outputs of the modulators 1 and 2 are supplied to and added together by an adding circuit 8, thereby obtaining a hue-controlled output carrier from an output terminal 9. To control phase shifts of the modulators 1 and 2 with this circuit constitution, a gain control signal generating circuit 5 generates a gain control signal (a) varying linearly and a gain control signal (b') varying in an arc shape under the control of a potentiometer 12 and then supplies them to the circuits 1 and 2 respectively. Thus, the hue of the chrominance signal on the carrier wave is controlled over a 0-180 deg. range.
