Abstract
PURPOSE:To set the extent of attenuation easily by setting a test mode and applying a test tone, and by setting the extent of attenuation of a variable attenuator automatically and performing encoding. CONSTITUTION:In a test mode, a changeover switch SW is changed over to a power source side of a constant voltage E., and the maximum extent of attenuation of a variable attenuator 1 is set. When a test tone with a constant level is applied to the input of this attenuator 1, this tone is applied to an encoder 3 via the attenuator 1 and a BPF2 and the encoder 3 outputs a digital code corresponding to the input level. Corresponding to the output, a digital value equivalent to the extent of attenuation to be set to the attenuator 1 is read out from an ROM6 and stored in a memory 7. When the test mode is reset, the attenuator 1 operates by being controlled according to the contents of the memory 7, and the encoder 3 therefore generates a signal which corresponds to an output with a standard level in response to an input with a prescribed level.
