Abstract

PURPOSE: A red light-emitting substance that is made by mixing a rare earth oxysulfide activated with europium having a specific particle size distribution, which is shown as a specific formula, with an electrically conductive substance at a specific ratio, thus showing increasd luminance by being excited with low speed electron rays.
CONSTITUTION: A red light-emitting fluorescent substance, one of rare earth oxysulfide activated with europium of the formula: Lu2O2S:Eu (Lu is Y, Gd, La), with a particle size distribution of 0.1W2μ median and less than 0.7 standard deviation and an electrically conductive substance such as a conductive metal oxide, e.g., In2O3 are mixed at a weight ratio of 19/1W1/1 to give the objective substance.
EFFECT: The resultant composition emits red light of high luminance by the excitation with low speed electron rays of less than 50 acceleration voltage. It does not contain cadmium, a harmful substance.
