Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a red fluorescent material having practically high luminescence at a low voltage, by mixing a fluorescent material which emits red light by electron rays excitation, and another red light-emitting fluorescent material composed mainly of In2O3 and doped with a rare earth element.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent composition composed of (A) an In2O3:RE fluorescent material (RE is rare earth element such as Eu, Ce, Er, Yb and Sm), and (B) a fluorescent material such as Y2O3:Eu, Y2O2S:Eu, and (Zn, Cd)S:Ag which has high electrical resistance and does not emit red light of sufficiently high intensity for the display use by low energy electron rays excitation. The component A emits light by low energy electron rays excitation, and improves the electrical condustivity of the composition. The mixture thus obtained exhibits practically high intensity and uniform red fluorescence by the excitation with low energy electron rays of about several to several tens V.
