Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the volume of ink drops without decreasing the recording speed by forming one picture element on a recording medium by the ink drops which are simultaneously jetted from a plurality of nozzles. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 103 moves in parallel with the cylindrical surface of a rotary drum 102 around which the recording medium 101 is wound. An ink jet head 104 which jets the ink drops from the nozzles by pressure pulses is fixed to the carriage 103 at the opposite position with respect to the recording medium 101. A plurality of the ink drops are simultaneously jetted from the head 104. A pressure chamber 201 filled with the ink is communicated to an ink supply port 202 and ink jet nozzles 203. A piezoelectric transducer 205 is fixed to a wall 204 of the pressure chamber. The ink jet nozzles 203a and 203b are located close together. One picture element is formed by the ink drops 206a and 206b which are simultaneously jetted from these nozzles.
