Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the self-discharge rate of silver peroxide for battery and not to impair its stability during battery production by adding specific amounts of a Cd component and a Te component to silver peroxide respectively. CONSTITUTION:This silver peroxide for battery contains metal Cd of 0.03- 1.0wt% as a Cd component, and Te at the ratio of 0.2-0.5 for Cd/Te as a Te component. In order to add said components to the silver peroxide, e.g., alkali hydroxide, silver nitrate, and a pro-oxidant are reacted, and both components may be added or mixed into the slurry before the generated silver peroxide is filtered and dried. Both components may be added after the dried silver peroxide was re-dispersed in a dispersion agent, or both components may be added to the dried silver peroxide mechanically.
