Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic characteristics of a permanent magnet by resin-bonding nucleus alloy which consists of Sm, Pr, Co, etc. and also an ingot structure in casting an alloy of a specific composition of R2Co17 crystal (R is the complex of Sm and Pr) is a columnar crystal. CONSTITUTION:A nucleus alloy is resin-bonded and magnetized to produce a permanent magnet, which is an alloy made of Sm, Pr, Co and M (M is at least one out of Mn, Cr, Mo, W, Ni, Ag, Au, Al, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb and Ta) and also mainly composed of an R2Co17 crystal of which the ranges of composition are 0<x<0.5, 0<u<0.3 and 6.5<=z<=9 when represented by Sm1-xPrx(Co1-uMu)z in the composition formula using an atomic weight ratio for its composition as well as of which the macrostructure of ingot in casting is mainly a columnar crystal as shown in the figure.
