Abstract

PURPOSE: A permanent magnetic alloy having a high energy product is provided for R-Co-Cu and R-Co-Cu-Fe based permanent magnetic alloys by adding combined composition of Mn with one or more of Nb, Zr, Ta, V, Cr and Hf.
CONSTITUTION: New permanent magnetic alloys consist of either (1) R (rare earth metal)-Co-Cu alloy including 22 to 28% of Sm and othr rare earth metals; 5 to 12% of Cu; 0.2 to 5% of one or more of Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr and Hf; 0.2 to 8% of Mn; 47 to 72.6% of Co, or (2) R-Co-Cu-Fe alloy which is formed by substituting less than 35% of Fe for Co of (1) components. The new alloys include Mn combined with one or more of Nb, Zr, Ta, V, Cr and Hf as additives to conventional R- Co-Cu and R-Co-Cu-Fe based permanent magnet alloy, thereby to effectively compensate low Cu and high Fe in content and to provide high coercive force and residual magnetic flux, resulting in permanent magnetic alloys having high energy produce.
