Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a large amount of L-leucine, by the aerobic cultivation of a β-2-thienylanlanine-resistant strain belonging to Escherichia genus in a liquid medium.
CONSTITUTION: A β-2-thienylalanine-resistant strain such as Echerichia coli AJ11478, Escherichia coli AJ11479, etc. derived from Escherichia coli K-12 by induced mutation, is cultured in a conventional medium, and the accumulated L- leucine is separated by conventional process. The medium is e.g. a liquid medium containing glucose, ammonium sulfate, a phosphate, etc., and the culturing is carried out under aerobic conditions.
