Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve productivity equivalent to those performed by two units of machines by providing two or more tool rests of head stocks and thereby providing possibility of two or more types of processing simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: An X-axis feed screw 31 is born by a pair of bearings 32 at its both ends, driven by a servo motor 34 to rotate at a desired speed and for a desired time period. Nuts 36, 37 fitted on this screw 31 move back and forth in accordance with the direction of screw rotation. Spacing between the tool rests 46 and 47 is adjusted with rotation of the nut 37 with a sleeve 38 driven by a servo motor 43 through gears 41, 42. The motor 43 is at a standstill normally. By this arrangement, two or more works can be processed simultaneously by two or more cutting tools.
