Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect the primary-side gate turn-off thyristor and so on from destruction, by detecting the primary-side voltage of a high-voltage transformer concerning the turning-on and-off type switching circuit of the electric range and so on whih is suitable to drive the load with a high voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Since a current considerably larger than that for the normal time is flowed for the turning-on and-off time in the turning-on and-off type switching circuit, the secondary-side voltage of the high-voltage transformer is detected to control the oscillation time so that the passage current of gate turn-off thyristor GTO9 cannot exceed the limit determined by the smaller one of the excitation characteristic of the primary winding of high-voltage transformer 3 and the cut-off characteristic of thyristor GTO9. As a result, thyrstor GTO and so on can be protected from destruction for occurrence of the moding phenomenon and so on of magnetrons.
