Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the air-fuel ratio at the time of idling operation of an engine, by providing an idle port for feeding fuel substantially at the sound velocity and employing such an arrangement for a variable venturi carburetor that a small passage is formed between a piston valve and a needle jet when the pistion valve is fully closed.
CONSTITUTION: The piston valve 4 has a needle 7 fixed at its top in the manner that it is moved in a needle jet 21. The piston valve 4 is fixed to a diaphragm 8, so that it is moved upward and downward by the negative force acted in a vacuum chamber 11. Here arrangement is such that a small passage 15 necessary for ejecting idling fuel is formed between the top of valve 4 and jet 21 when the piston valve 4 is fully closed. Further, an idle port 32 is provided in intake passage 2 at a part thereof located downstreams of a throttle valve 3 so as to eject idling fuel thereform substantially at the sound velocity by the aid of a control valve 33 fitted in the idle port 32.
