Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the thermal efficiency of a power plant as a whole, by connecting the vent pipe communicated to the atmosphere and the vent pipe communicated to a condenser to the deaerator of a steam turbine, and lowering the internal pressure of said deaerator by switching the above two vent pipes automatically.
CONSTITUTION: The combined-cycle power plant shown in the drawing comprises a gas turbine system 20, a waste heat recovering boiler 30 and a steam turbine system 40. The deaerator 46 is provided with the vent valve 52 communicated to the atmosphere and the vent valve 53 communicated to the condenser 43, which are switched automatically to be used selectively. During ordinary operation, the valve 52 is kept closed but the valve 53 is kept open for releasing the vent of the deaerator 46 to condenser 43, so that pressure in the deaerator 46 can be lowered to a level lower than the atmospheric pressure and the temperature of feed water can be lowered. Thus, it is enabled to make an efficient use of the high-temperature heat source of exhaust gas 13 and hence to raise the overall thermal efficiency of the power plant.
