Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible the impartion of the electromagnetic flow of the specified velocity of flow within the specified range by bevelling the inside circumference of the mold and approaching linear motors to the molten metal surface at the time of giving electromagnetic flow to the freezing interface molten steel by the linear motors thereby forming a proper sound frozen layer to the slab. CONSTITUTION:Linear motors 2 are provided along both long sides 4 in a slab mold 1 and their thrust is given in mutually different directions (a), (b). Electromagnetic flow is thus given to the freezing interface molten steel up to the position where the freezing interface molten steel up to the position where the freezing thickness corresponding to the scale thickness formed from at least during casting until the start of rolling.
