Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the foamed polystylene sheet having a thin thickness, a high structural strength which is useful for a food packaging unit by a method wherein a polymer and an organic compound having a low boiling point are extruded from an annular slit to form a cylindrical body, a diameter of the cylindrical film is expanded with a specified method, nonfoamed layer is formed and then cut. CONSTITUTION:(B) 0.01-0.15mol of organic compound of low boiling point (Ex: butane etc.) is added in respect to (A) 100g of polystylene, they are melted and mixed in the extruding machine, then extruded from the annular slit 2 of the die 1 arranged at the leading end of the extruding machine to make a cylinder 7 and then foamed. Then, this is fixed just after the annular slit 2 so as not to be contacted with the die 1, thermal medium is passed through a circulation passage 4, contacted with a cooling ring 3 heated to -10 deg.C-+90 deg.C with a moving speed of 1- 50m/min, and air is blown into a cavity 8 enclosed by the die 1, the cooling drum 6 and the cylinder 7 from an air blow pipe 5, a diameter of the cylinder 7 is bulged out to form nonfoamed layer having a thickness of 2-10% thereof in an intire surface of the sheet.
