Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify air flow control in an air flow regulating valve in an outlet of an air cooler employed for an auxiliary reactor core cooling system of a liquid metal cooled fast breeder by a method wherein leak air flow in the air-cooler can be regulated when stand-by operation is done.
CONSTITUTION: When the auxiliary reactor core cooling system is operated to remove heat, an inlet stop valve 7 and an outlet stop valve 8 of a steam generator 3 are closed, an outlet stop valve 10 of an air cooler 4 is opened and simultanelusly an inlet damper 12 and an outlet damper 13 also are opened fully. Under such a state a blower 20 is driven to cool the liquid metal running through a heat conducting tube 15. On the other hand, both dampers 12, 13 are closed fully at the stand-by operation thereby air and liquid leakages are slight. In order that leak air flow can be regulated, in either duct 18, 19 are provided bypass pipings 21, 23 whose openings face the heat conducting tube and leak air flow regulating valves 22, 24 are equipped in each piping 21, 22.
