Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent bends, the generation of burrs and to hold the mill power in a small value by a method wherein the point sharpness 0.05h0 (h0=maximum thickness of a cut metallic plate) of a ringlike projected part on a grooved roll is given as a practical limit.
CONSTITUTION: In a metallic plate cutting apparatus which grooves, rolls and cuts a metallic plate by the use of a roll with ringed projections, the wedge angle varies with deformation strength of a metallic plate, quality of a roll material, etc. and moves approximately between 10° and 80°. Then, the allowable bending limit for cut cast pieces is approximately to 40mm and the point sharpness 0.05h0 corresponding to this is regarded as a practical limit sharpness. In other words, if the length ε of a string on an inside level by 0.02h0 of the point level of the projection exceeds 0.05h0, the bending of the cut cast piece becomes so large. Thus, generation of the bending and burrs is prevented and the mill power can be kept in a small value.
