Abstract

PURPOSE: To recirculate exhaust gas ina stable manner over the entire operational range of an internal combustion engine covering from its low-load operation to highload operation, by controlling an exhaust-gas recirculating valve by a negative pressure at the portion near a throttle valve and the pressure of exhaust gas in an exhaust-gas controling system for the engine.
CONSTITUTION: An intake passage 6 and an exhaust passage 10 of an engine 4 are communicated with each other via recirculating passage 10 having an exhaustgas recirculating valve 12. Negative pressure at a portion near a throttle valve 16 is introduced into a vacuum chamber 20 of the valve 12 for controlling a control valve 14. Further, the negative pressure in vacuum chamber 20 is regulated by a regulating valve means 26 which operates to open and close an open-air inlet port 48. The negative pressure at a portion near the throttle valve 16 and the exhaustgas pressure at a pressure detecting position 40 in recirculating passage 10 are acted respectively in an upper and a lower chambers 30 and 32 defined by a diaphragm 28 in means 26, so that opening and closing of the port 48 can be controlled from the relationship between the above-mentioned negative pressure and the exhaustgas pressure.
