Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent biasing of an intermediate transfer belt which is put on at least two rollers by forming the diameter of at least one roller into a tapered shape which is maximum in the end part and is minimum in the central part in a copying apparatus having said belt. CONSTITUTION:The toner images on a rotary drum 1 are transferred to a transfer belt 14 by the pressure by a transfer roller 11, and the toner images are transferred to transfer paper by a transferring and fixing roller 12 and a pressing roller 15. Hereupon, the roller 12 assumes a shape of about 330mm. length, about 40mm. diameter at both ends, and about 0.04-0.1mm. taper amount, and has a heater 12a in its inside. The diameter of the roller 12 is maintained uniformly over the entire length at all time by the expansion in the central part by this heating. Hence, the feed of the transfer paper 16 is averaged over the entire surface and therefore the occurrence of creasing in the transfer paper 16 is prevented and the biasing of the belt 14 is prevented as well.
