Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate recovery of removed toner and minimize the toner scattering, by heating and fusing the residual toner on the photoreceptor surface to the cleaning member, after transferring the toner image formed on electrophotographic phtotoreceptor onto the transfer member.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor consists of a supporting body 1 and a photoconductive layer 2, and a cleaning roller 3 is provided in a manner to press against the photoreceptor surface. A cleaning web 7 is pressed tightly against the roller 3 by means of a roller 5. The photoreceptor rotates in the direction of arrow 8, the roller 3 in the direction of arrow 4, and the roller 5 in the direction of arrow 6. The residual toner 9 on the photoreceptor surface is heated and fused, and is transferred on the roller 3 as residual toner 10, so that the photoreceptor may be thoroughly cleaned. The residual toner 10 is then transferred onto the web 7 as residual toner 11, so that the roller 3 may be continuously used. Thus, in this method, the toner does not scatter, so that the wear of the photoreceptor surface may be decreased also.
