Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a mass-producible opal glass globe by sticking a low m.p. opal glass composition having specified components to a transparent glass globe followed by baking.
CONSTITUTION: Opal glass globes conventionally manufactured by skilled craftsmen are rendered mass-producible. This low m.p. opal glass composition is composed of 2.0W20.0pts.wt. (0W10.0pts.wt. SnO2) at least one of SnO2, TiO2 and ZrO2 and 100pts.wt. matrix glass ≥98mol% of which except water consists of, by mol, 2W20% P2O5, 10W25% SiO2, 14W25% Al2O3, 10W65% B2O3, 5W25% RO (RO is at least CaO among ≥3% CaO, ZnO and MgO) and 12W24% R2O (R2O is at least Li2O among Li2O, Na2O and K2O). This composition is converted into a coating material with solvent or the like and used.
