Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the toner image which can be transferred to plain paper and is always stable by using the one-component insulating toner which is reduced of harmful powder toner particles of ≤4μ and does not contain so-called carrier particles, in electrostatic image development.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of using a magnetic toner, the toner 6 supplied from a hopper 3 is defined to an intended thickness by a magnetic material blade 4 and one of the magnetic poles of a magnet roll disposed on the inner side of a developing sleeve 2 in opposition to said blade, is stuck with electric charge between the same and the developing sleeve 2 and is carried to a developing region. In the magnetic toner 6, the quantity distribution of particles having ≤4μ grain sizes is kept at ≤10%. The gap between the developing sleeve 2 and an electrostatic image holding body 1 is kept at about 300μ, and the sine wave alternating voltage superposed with direct current voltage is applied to the developing sleeve 2 by a developing bias electric power source 5. In the case of the nonmagnetic toner, too, the quantity distribution of particles having ≤4μ grain sizes is ≤10%.
