Abstract
PURPOSE:To thinly and uniformly coat the high resistance toner on a toner carrying body such as rubber roller by magnetism generating means such as magnet and magnetic-line-of-force focusing means constituted of a magnetic material opposing thereto at the time of developing the latent image of a latent image holding member. CONSTITUTION:A rubber roller 7 is constituted of a rubber layer 7a and a carrying roller 9 composed of a nonmagnetic material and the high-electric resistance toner 10 is supplied to the surface of the roller 7 from a hopper 9. The supplied toner 10 is uniformized to a predetermined thickness by a magnetic material blade 11 formed by iron or magnet and the magnet 12 connotatively secured in the roller 7. The tip width of the blade 11 is smaller than the tip width of the magnet 12. Changing the relative positions of the blade 11 and the magnet 12 causes the shape of the magnetic field to change and enables the setting of the toner layer to an arbitrary thickness. The toner layer having been made to a uniform thickness is rubbed by a friction charging member 13 and is thus charged to the polarity opposite from that of the latent image, whereby the latent image of the latent image surface 14 is developed.
