Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the engine efficiency and the heating efficiency of a vehicle with a small quantity of fuel by providing a water chamber in the intermediate of an exhaust pipe and recovering waste heat to cooling water upon starting the operation at a low temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A waste heat recovering device 4 connected to an exhaust pipe 2 of the engine 1 is composed of a waste heat recovering part 8 consisting of an annular water chamber 7 formed by an outer tube 5 and an inner tube 6 arranged at a predetermined interval therefrom, and of an exhaust gas inlet chamber 9. Water conduit pipes 19 and 22 in which engine cooling water flows through the water chamber 7 are connected to the device 4. Here, when the temperature of cooling water is low, an operating element 15 operates by a temperature sensing element 21 provided at the intermediate of the water conduit pipe 22, and a blocking member 14 opens as shown by chain line to flow the exhaust gas into the water chamber 7 and perform heat exchange between the exhaust gas and cooling water flowing therein to increase the temperature of water. Conversely, when the temperature of water is high, the blocking member 14 is closed as shown by solid line. Accordingly, the heating effect can be obtained according to necessity.
