Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a grind stone that is free from clogging, excellent in grinding capability by a structure wherein the grind stone is made up by dispersing compound grains in polyvinylacetal resin, the compound grains being obtained as an aggregate of hollow alumina balls and fine abrasive powder and finished in relatively large size.
CONSTITUTION: The grind stone is manufactured by making compound grains by making abrasive powder stick to the surfaces of hollow alumina balls or glass beads with a diameter larger than that of the abrasive powder to be used, employing various adhesive agents. For this reason, when said grind stone comes in contact with the object to be ground, the abrasive powder is not immediately forced into the resin which is a bonding agent and, in comparing with when only the abrasive powder is used, larger compression resistance is shown, so that grinding capability can be fully displayed. Since the abrasive powder and compound grains are gradually worn off and removed as grinding work progresses, their traces are utilized for discharging the chips produced from the object to be ground, and the clogging is hardly observed on the surface of the grind stone.
