Abstract

PURPOSE: To execute flash-free forging by letting the punches whose ends are of crankpin molding dies enter the material of the closed dies.
CONSTITUTION: The pre-formed material 1 is supplied between opened dies 3, 3', at which time punches 5', 5 are held vertically expanded. Next, when pressing is commanded to an outer press 9, the die 3' descends while holding the punch 3' and the dies 3 contact and stop with each other at the die parting face. At this time arrangement is so made that the material 1 accommodates in the die cavity and does not extrude to the die parting face. Then, when pressing is commanded to an inner press 10 and lower press 11, the punches 5', 5 advance while forcing aside the materiallc portion and are held in the dies at the punch ends. The remained material becomes crankpins 2c and the material having been forced aside fills the die cavity by making up the material insufficiency such of crankarm 2, crankshafts 2a, 2f, etc. This method eliminates the need for extraordinary screw-down force and improves yield as well.
