Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A thiazolidine derivative of formula I: (R1 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenylalkyl, phenyl or five-or six-membered heterocyclic group having one or two hetero atoms selected from N, O, S, etc.; R2 is direct bond or lower alkylene group; L1 and L2 are lower alkyl groups or may form a alkylene group when R1 is H or alkyl group; L1 and L2 may be H when R1 is nei ther H nor alkyl group).
EXAMPLE: 5-(2-Cyclohexylmethyloxy-5-pyridylmethyl) thiazoliadine-2, 4-dione.
USE: Effective against hyperlipemia, diabetes, and their complications, administrable orally or parenterally.
PROCESS: An α-halogeno carboxylic acid of formula II: (X is halogen; Z is lower alkoxy or hydroxyl group) is reacted thiourea to give an 2-imino-thiazolidine derivative of formula III, which is hydrolyzed to form the compound of formula I.
