Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl, phenyl, aralkyl, or together may form heterocyclic ring; R3, R4 and R5 are H, lower alkyl, OH, lower alkoxyl, etc.; R6 is H, lower alkyl, aralkyl, lower alkanoyl, benzoyl, etc.; R7 is OH, lower alkoxyl, phenoxy, etc.; Z is 1W3C alkylene) and a salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: ( 4R )-3-( S-Benzoyl-3-mercaptopropanoyl )-2-( 2-hydroxy-5-sulfamoylphenyl)-4-thiazolidinecarboxylic acid.
USE: An inhibitor for an angiotensin converting enzyme and aldose reductase useful as a hypotensive agent and a preventing agent and a remedy for diabetic complication.
PROCESS: A reactive derivative of a compound expressed by formula II (R8 is R6, etc.) is reacted with a compound of formula III, and if necessary treated with an acid to give the compound of formula I.
