Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a solar battery which is embedded in a resin and has an efficiency not lower than that of a bare solar battery, by embedding a bare solar battery in a resin and thereafter treating them with heat under an atmosphere of inert gas.
CONSTITUTION: A solar battery element, which is a bare semiconductor element of a II-VI family compound, is embedded in an epoxy resin. The element and the resin are treated with heat so that the resin is hardened. The solar battery element embedded in the resin is then treated with heat at a prescribed temperature under nitrogen for a prescribed time so that the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the element is raised. The solar battery element is made from a pair of CdS and Cu2S or a pair of CdS and CdTe.
