Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure the rotational accuracy and the gap without any set change with the use of a single meter by holding a test piece on a rotatable and tiltable spindle and by providing a movable radial defelction measuring member and an axial deflection measuring member.
CONSTITUTION: A spindle 15 holding a bearing 33 to be inspected is so constructed that it can be tilted by bearings 22 and 23. The spindle 15 is placed in an upright position, and the radial deflection is measured with the use of measuring elements 7 and 8. Moreover the axial deflection is measured with the use of measuring elements 9 and 10. Under the condition having the spindle 15 inclined at 90 degrees, the radial gap is measured. Under the condition having the spindle 14 inclined at 180 degrees, morever, the axial gap is measured. Since the rotational accuracy and the gap can be measured by the single mounting operation, the meter of the invention is convenient in the measurements of the accuracy of a large bearing which might otherwise be difficult to handle.
