Abstract
1387904 Roundness gauge SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO PO PROEKTIROVANIJU SHLIFOVALNOGO OBORUDOVANIA 8 March 1972 10684/72 Heading G1M A roundness gauge comprises a support member 2 journalled on the end of a pivoted rod 11, a pair of balance beams 4 journalled on the member 2, balance beams 5 journalled on the beams 4 and arranged to contact the rotating workpiece 1 and a gauge 9 having a probe 10 contacting the workpiece. More complex arrangements of balance beams may be used Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) and a procedure said to optimize the relative positions of the journals is described. The gauge may be used to measure a ring externally Fig. 6, 7 (not shown) or internally Fig. 8 (not shown). In Fig. 9, the gauge is shown suspended from a pantograph provided with a further gauge 47 which provides an indication of the separation of the centre of the profile under test from the axes of the test rotation. A system of journalled balance beams may be used to support a rotating test piece during the test Figs. 10, 11 (not shown).
