Abstract
PURPOSE: Polyamide resin powder is dispersed in equal amount by weight of poor solvent and coated on a metal container to be followed by drying and heating to provide a sufficiently corrosion resistant coating layer without using expensive equipment.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of 6-, 6.6- or other polyamide resin, its copolymer, mixture, or modified product in grain size of 1 to 100 microns, particularly 1 to 60 microns is dispersed in a solvent which is unable to dissolve such resin powder. Such solvent including hexane, toluene, ether, methyl ethyl ketone, alcohol, etc. is preferably mixed to have a specific gravity nearly equal to that of the polyamide resin. The dispersion is applied by spraying or other means to a metal container, particularly to worked part such as seamed portion. The coated product, after dried at room temperature, is heated and melted at 120 to 350°C to provide tough, uniform, corrosion-resistant coating layer.
