Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent excessive thermal stress from occurring in the welded part of a tube plate and that of a heat transfer tube with the tube plate or the like in a tubular heat exchanger appropriate as an intermediate heat exchanger for a fast breeder in particularly, by producing a high heat-insulating effect.
CONSTITUTION: Primary high-temperature sodium is introduced into an inner shell 1 through a primary sodium inlet port 3 and then flows into an inner shell 8 through an inlet window 11 so that the primary high-temperature sodium goes down while performing heat exchange with secondary sodium rising through heat transfer tubes 14. The secondary primary sodium is then discharged through an outlet window 12 and an outlet nozzle 4. The upper part of each heat transfer tube 140 extends through an upper tube plate 20 and two heat-insulating plates 150 provided near the inside of the upper plate 20. The parts 140a of the heat transfer tube corresponding to the heat-insulating plates 150 are expanded. The clearance δ1 between the heat transfer tube 140 and the heat-insulating plates 150 is thus made so small that the primary high-temperature sodium cannot pass toward the upper tube plate 20.
