Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an internal defect-free high Cr alloy material of high density with high productivity by mixing powder starting materials so as to give the desired high Cr alloy composition after which the mixture is vacuum-sealed in a hot working resistant metal container, pressure-sintered under specified conditions, and rolled at a restricted working rate.
CONSTITUTION: In manufacture of a Cr alloy material contg. Cr>70%, powder starting materials are mixed so as to give the desired alloy composition. This mixture is vacuum-sealed in a hot working resistant metal container under 10-2 Torr or below at 150W800°C, pressure-sintered under an inert gas pressure of 200kg/cm2 at 1,000W1,400°C, and rolled or swaged at 800W1,350°C and a working rate of 30% or more. The worked material is then planed or pickled to remove the container and a surface deteriorated layer. By this method a large-sized high Cr alloy material such as a plate or a rod usable as a heat and corrosion resistnt material can be manufactured easily.
