Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent N2 contained in coke, a raw material for sintering, form being converted into NOx in sintering iron ore, by blending the iron ore with small particles of lime stone.
CONSTITUTION: In sintering iron ore powder, CaCO3 is added to the ore in order to make the ore retain a basicity suitable as self-fluxing sinter. The particle size of CaCO3 is adjusted to a particle diameter not larger than 2.5 mm. Small particle size of CaCO3 decreases in sintering the ratio of oxidation of N2 contained in coke of blended raw material to NOx, decreasing NOx content of the exhaust gas discharged from the sintering machine. Consequently cost for the equipment for removing NOx contained in the exhaust gas, and the operation cost for the equipment are reduced remarkably.
