Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the precipitation of kish graphite on the surface of cast iron so as to remove the after-treating operation of the surface, by, in casting of molten cast iron of a blast furnace, conducting previously a prescribed dephosphorization of the molten cast iron, thereby decreasing the precipitation of Fe3P. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing, for example, a heavy walled castings using blast furnace molten cast iron as a raw material, casting after the previous dephosphorization to a phosphorous content not higher than 0.18% in a ladle permits to decrease the precipitation of steadite (Fe3P) of low solidifying point, simultaneously preventing the floating of kish graphite from inside to upper surface. Hereby no pitting defects of the surface due to kish graphite are formed, so that later adjustment is removed.
