Abstract
PURPOSE: To cast the steel ingot of arbitrary unit weights according to need by adjusting the position of pouring line by inserting the auxiliary plate of the specified thickness between a large molding board and a small molding board at the time of producing the steel ingot through bottom pouring.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel 1 is poured from a pouring pipe 2 and is bottom poured into two molds 4a, 4b through a cross gate 3. For example, in the case of casting a steel ingot of L+h in the pouring line (or called "level-down") in the mold 4a, an auxiliary plate 8 of the thickness corresponding to the level-down h is interposed between a large molding board 6 and a small molding board 7. If in this way the auxiliary plate 8 being an iron plate of the thickness h is interposed in the arbitrary mold 4a and the molten steel 1 is poured from the pouring pipe, the steel ingot is case in the state of the level-down (L+h) in the mold 4 on account of the principle of communication pipe, in contrast with which the steel ingot is cast in the state of the level-down L in the other mold 4b.
