Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which is superior in resistance to wear and weras a magnetic head little, by mixing nonmagnetic powder of a Mohs hardness of 9 or more and granular α iron oxide powder to form a magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: Granular α iron oxide powder and nonmagnetic powder (for example, Cr2O3 powder and Al2O3 powder) of a Mohs hardness of 9 or more are mixed in the proportions of approximately weight ratio 1:0.2W1 and are used as a reinforcement additive, and the reinforcement additive above of 0.5W10wt% is mixed for magnetic powder to form a magnetic layer.
