Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide high resistance to thermal impact and relatively decrease the internal resistance, by specifying the composition of solid electrolyte for oxygen gas detection and adding quantity of sintering auxiliary.
CONSTITUTION: The main ingredients are ZrO2 92 to 97 mol %, and Y2O3 5 to 3 mol %, to which are added Al2O3 0.05 to 0.8 wt.% and SiO2 0.2 to 2.0 wt. % as sintering auxiliary. The additing quantity of Al2O3 is set to 1/40 to 1 time of that of SiO2. These are mixed and crushed, and then temporarily baked at 1300°C. The temporarily baked material is crushed again, and then mixed, granulated and formed with the aid of an auxiliary such as paraffin, then baked again at 1800°C. Thus, solid electrolyte element is obtained, and Pt electrodes are provided on the inside and outside thereof.
