Abstract

PURPOSE: The welding electrode prepared by reducing Si and O in the weld metal and forming the crystal grain into microcrystal, by coating the core wire of carbon steel with the coating material containing a specified quantity of carbonate, metal fluoride, Si, Ti, Mg, Cr and Mo.
CONSTITUTION: The core wire of carbon steel is coated with the coating material containing 35W55% carbonate like as CaCO3, etc., 22W35% fluoride like as CaF2, etc., 0.8W2.5% Si, 1.4W3% Ti, 0.3W5% Al, 0.3W5% Mg, 1.5W9% Cr, and 1.3 W3.6% Mo, using the binder like as sodium silicate, potassium silicate, etc. According to this combination of the core wire and the coating material, the deposited metal meeting the composition of constituents of Cr-Mo type low-alloy steel can be obtained, and the brittlement characteristic of the deposited metal can be improved. This welding electrode is employed in the arc welding with the low hydrogen type covered electrode for the heat resisting low-alloy steel, such as the manufacture of the heat exchanger to be exposed to high temperature for long hours, etc.
