One method of assisting a vehicle's travel is to assist it in cutting in to a queue of vehicles in a traffic jam. For example,
When using the technology disclosed in

In this embodiment, some of the components of the
The following describes each component of the
なお、物体検出センサ11は、LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging)、ミリ波レーダー、及び、カメラ等である。
The
The
The vehicle
The
The vehicle
The driving
The driving
Figure 2 shows the driving conditions of a vehicle when cutting into a queue of congested vehicles. In these figures, the vehicle moves from the bottom to the top of the figure.
This diagram shows a main line L1 on the right side of the diagram, and a branch road L2 that branches off from the main line L1. The main line L1 and the branch road L2 are separated by a median strip that starts at starting point X. The branch road L2 starts at branch point Y, which is located in the direction of travel before the starting point X of the median strip (hereinafter also referred to as branch point X). Vehicle A is traveling on the main line L1, and on the branch road L2, there is a jammed train of vehicles C consisting of n vehicles B (vehicles B1 to Bn). The jammed train of vehicles C may extend to the shoulder strip before branch point Y, where the branch road L2 begins to branch off.
The travel
In this situation, three locations, D1, D2, and D3, are identified as locations with relatively high and equal interruption feasibility. D1 is located immediately after branch point Y of branch path L2, and D3 is located immediately before starting point X of the branch band. D2 is located between D1 and D2.
In such a case, even if the predicted inter-vehicle distances are equal at D1 to D3 and the likelihood of cutting in is the same, the driver of vehicle B in the jammed line of vehicles C will tend to be more likely to allow cutting in at D1, which is in front of him in the direction of travel, and less likely to allow cutting in at D3, which is ahead.
The travel
In addition, when vehicle A approaches the cut-in point, vehicle B behind the cut-in point may not slow down, and the distance between vehicle B may not become longer than the cut-in possible length, resulting in a failed cut-in. In such a case, the travel
Referring again to FIG. 1, the calculation of the cut-in feasibility as shown in FIG. 2 is performed by the driving
The
When the
When a jammed vehicle line C is present on the travel route of the host vehicle A, the cut-in
The cut-in
When the traffic jam vehicle
The inter-vehicle
The cut-in
The cut-in
Figure 3 is a flowchart showing the driving assistance control performed by the driving

In step S3, the controller (vehicle position within map estimation unit 15) acquires the vehicle position based on the detection result of the vehicle
In step S4, the controller (vehicle
In step S5, the controller (vehicle position within map estimation unit 15) identifies the vehicle position within the map using the vehicle position acquired in step S3 and the map data acquired in step S4.
In step S6, the controller (driving route generation unit 20) generates a driving route for the vehicle using the detection results of objects present in the vicinity of the vehicle obtained in step S2, and the vehicle position on the map and destination information obtained in step S5.
Then, the controller (cut-in route generation unit 22) detects the congested vehicle line C, calculates the cut-in feasibility for the congested vehicle line C, and stores the calculated cut-in feasibility in the
In step S7, the controller (travel route generator 20) generates an interrupt route that supports interruption at an interruption point where the interruption feasibility exceeds a reference value.
In step S8, the controller (vehicle control unit 31) drives the vehicle along the generated driving route. The controller may also provide driving assistance so that the vehicle drives along the driving route.
Figure 4 is a flowchart showing the details of the route generation control shown in step S6 of Figure 3.
In step S61, the controller (traffic jammed vehicle line determination unit 221) detects a traffic jammed vehicle line C that exists around the vehicle A based on the recognition result of the
In step S62, the controller (vehicle distance estimation unit 222) detects the length of the jammed vehicle sequence C and its rearmost position.
In step S63, the controller (cut-in feasibility calculation unit 223) predicts all inter-vehicle distances between two adjacent vehicles B. The predicted inter-vehicle distances are those assumed to be when the vehicle A reaches the cut-in position between the two vehicles B. For locations where the inter-vehicle distance is predicted to exceed the distance required for cutting in, the longer the predicted inter-vehicle distance, the higher the cut-in feasibility is calculated to be.
In step S64, the controller (cut-in feasibility calculation unit 223) performs a correction by multiplying the cut-in feasibility calculated in step S63 by a correction factor of 1 or less. Specifically, the shorter the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C detected in step S61, the closer the correction factor is to 1, and the longer the distance, the closer the correction factor is to zero. In other words, the longer the distance, the lower the cut-in feasibility is corrected. Note that past cut-in success probabilities may be accumulated, and the correction method may be changed depending on the cut-in success probability. For example, the relationship between the cut-in success probability and the inter-vehicle distance may be stored, and the correction factor may be set lower when the inter-vehicle distance is such that the success probability is below a threshold value.
In step S65, the controller (interrupt feasibility assignment unit 224) stores the interrupt feasibility calculated by the interrupt
In step S66, the controller (route setting unit 21) generates a driving route that leads to an interruption point where the interruption feasibility exceeds a reference value, based on the information recorded in the
In this way, the possibility of cutting in, which is calculated based on the longitudinal distance of vehicle B that is part of the jammed vehicle queue C, is further corrected based on the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle queue C. As a result, it is possible to estimate with higher accuracy whether vehicle A can cut in before the following vehicle, thereby reducing the number of failed attempts to cut in.
In this embodiment, the possibility of cutting in is calculated based on the predicted inter-vehicle distance and then corrected based on the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C, but this is not limited to the above. The possibility of cutting in may also be calculated using the predicted speed of vehicle B in the jammed vehicle line C. For example, if the predicted speed of vehicle B is fast, the possibility of cutting in is calculated to be lower.
In addition, in this embodiment, the feasibility of cutting in is corrected according to the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C, but this is not limited to the above. The feasibility of cutting in may also be corrected according to the ratio of the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C to the total length of the jammed vehicle line. In this way, the correction can be made accurately according to the length of the jammed vehicle line C, thereby reducing the possibility of cutting in failing.
In addition, in this embodiment, an example of cutting in to a congested vehicle line C has been described, but this is not limiting. For example, when a vehicle line C consisting of multiple vehicles B is traveling at a predetermined speed without being congested, the feasibility of cutting in to the vehicle line C may be calculated on the assumption that a lane change will be made to the lane in which the vehicle line C is traveling. In this way, the possibility of failing to change to the lane in which the vehicle line C is traveling can be reduced.
According to the first embodiment, the following effects can be obtained:
(S8)。 According to the driving assistance method of the first embodiment, the controller calculates the possibility of cutting in based on the front-to-rear distance between adjacent vehicles constituting the jammed vehicle line C at any position in the jammed vehicle line (S63), and corrects the calculated possibility of cutting in based on the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C (S64). Then, a cutting in feasibility according to the position of the jammed vehicle line C is assigned (S65), and a driving route is generated so that the host vehicle A cuts in at a cutting in point where the cutting in feasibility exceeds a reference value (S66). Driving assistance is then provided for the host vehicle so that the host vehicle travels along the generated driving route (S8).
Here, the psychology of the driver of vehicle B in the jammed vehicle line C is such that he or she is more likely to accept cutting in at D1, which is in front of the driver's direction of travel, and less likely to accept cutting in at D3, which is in front of the driver's direction of travel. Therefore, the controller corrects the calculated cutting in feasibility so that it decreases as the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C increases (S64). In this way, by changing the cutting in feasibility not only according to the distance between vehicle B in the jammed vehicle line, but also according to the distance traveled by vehicle A, the cutting in feasibility can be calculated more accurately, thereby improving the feasibility of cutting in to the jammed vehicle line C.
According to the driving assistance method of the first embodiment, when two vehicles B that are adjacent to each other in the longitudinal direction and that form a jammed vehicle queue C have a lower acceleration than the front vehicle B, the controller calculates that the feasibility of cutting in is higher because the inter-vehicle distance is likely to be wider. At locations with a high inter-vehicle feasibility calculated in this way, the inter-vehicle distance between the two vehicles B is likely to be longer, making it easier to cut in. By providing cut-in assistance based on the cut-in feasibility calculated in this way, it is possible to reduce failures to cut in.
According to the driving support method of the first embodiment, the controller corrects the calculated cut-in feasibility so that it decreases as the ratio of the distance from the end of the jammed vehicle line C to the overall length of the jammed vehicle line C increases (S64). In this way, the cut-in feasibility changes depending on the overall length of the jammed vehicle line C, so the accuracy of the correction can be improved, and the cut-in feasibility can be calculated more accurately.
According to the driving assistance method of the first embodiment, when a queue of vehicles in a traffic jam is present on a branch road L2 that branches off ahead of a main road L1 on which the vehicle is traveling, the possibility of cutting in is set to be impossible (zero) within a predetermined distance from the starting point X of the median strip between the main road and the branch road. In this way, cutting in is prevented in the vicinity of the starting point X of the median strip, so that risky cutting in can be suppressed.
Second Embodiment
In the first embodiment, the cut-in feasibility is corrected according to the distance from the tail of the jammed vehicle queue C, but this is not limiting. In the second embodiment, the cut-in feasibility may be corrected using other parameters.
For example, the controller corrects the possibility of cutting in to be smaller the faster the average speed of vehicle B in the jammed vehicle train C. Here, the faster the vehicle speed of the jammed vehicle train C, the longer the inter-vehicle distance required to cut in, and therefore the lower the possibility of cutting in. In this way, by correcting the possibility of cutting in according to the average vehicle speed of the jammed vehicle train C as another parameter, it is possible to reduce failures to cut in.
For example, as shown in FIG. 5, assume that vehicle E is traveling ahead of vehicle A and cuts in between vehicles B3 and B4 in the jammed vehicle line C. In such a case, it can be assumed that the driver of vehicle B4, which has been cut in, is unlikely to allow vehicle A to cut in again. Therefore, a correction is made so that the possibility of cutting in becomes even lower between vehicles B3 and B4.
On the other hand, vehicles behind vehicle B4 can see that cutting in has occurred from the front, and vehicles ahead of vehicle E that cut in can see that cutting in from the rear through their side mirrors, etc. Therefore, the drivers of these vehicles are psychologically more likely to accept the cutting in, so for example, a correction factor greater than 1 is set to make the post-correction cut-in feasibility higher. In this way, the cut-in feasibility can be calculated with higher accuracy, and cut-in failures can be reduced.
Furthermore, the controller may correct the possibility of cutting in lower as the width of the lane in which the vehicle is traveling is narrower. When the width of the lane in which the vehicle is traveling is narrow, it is preferable that the inter-vehicle distance at the cutting-in point in the congested vehicle line C is long when cutting in. Therefore, by correcting the possibility of cutting in lower, it is possible to cut in safely.
The controller may also correct the possibility of cutting in lower as the curvature of the lane in which the vehicle is traveling is greater. When the curvature of the lane in which the vehicle is traveling is greater, it is preferable that the inter-vehicle distance at the cutting in point in the congested vehicle line C is longer when cutting in. Thus, by correcting the possibility of cutting in lower, it is possible to cut in safely.
The controller may also correct the feasibility of cutting in lower as the number of lanes in the lane in which the host vehicle is traveling increases. When the number of lanes in the lane in which the host vehicle is traveling increases, it is preferable that the inter-vehicle distance at the cutting-in point in the congested vehicle line C is long when cutting in. Thus, by correcting the feasibility of cutting in lower, cutting in can be performed with high safety.
