Description
The present invention relates to an antenna pattern applied to an RFID medium such as an RFID label or an RFID tag, an RFID inlay , and an RFID label .
In recent years, in fields such as product manufacturing, management, and distribution, RFID media such as RFID tags and RFID labels that support RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which transmits and receives information by contactless communication from IC chips that contain product-related and identification information, have become widespread.
The following method has been disclosed as a method for manufacturing the above-mentioned RFID medium. That is, a resist layer in the shape of a given antenna is printed on a metal foil made of aluminum or the like laminated on a substrate, and then the rest of the material other than the antenna shape is melted and removed by chemical etching. Then, an RFID inlay is formed by connecting the formed antenna to an IC chip using an anisotropic conductive material that combines electrical and mechanical connections, such as an anisotropic conductive paste. This method is for manufacturing the desired RFID medium, such as tags or labels, from the RFID inlay thus obtained (see Patent Document 1).
For RFID media to function properly, it is desirable that the antenna and the IC chip attached to the antenna can maintain a mechanical connection under the conditions of use as a product. However, with anisotropic conductive materials, there is still room for improvement, particularly in terms of the strength of the mechanical connection between the IC chip and the antenna pattern.
Therefore, the present invention aims to increase the strength of the mechanical connection between the IC chip and the antenna pattern.
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided an antenna pattern which forms an RFID inlay by connecting an IC chip, the antenna pattern comprising a substrate and an antenna formed of metal foil on the substrate, at least a part of the antenna having a rough surface portion which is rougher than the surrounding area in a predetermined area which is wider than the area in which the IC chip is disposed, and an IC chip connection portion to which the IC chip is connected is formed in the rough surface portion .
According to the present invention, by forming a rough surface portion that is rougher than the surrounding area on at least a portion of the antenna to which the IC chip is connected, the adhesive area that contributes to adhesion with the IC chip is increased. This makes it possible to increase the strength of the mechanical connection between the IC chip and the antenna pattern.

In this embodiment, the rough surface portion S is formed in the
In the
When forming the rough surface portion S by the above-mentioned laser irradiation, it is preferable that the depth of the recess is slightly shallower than the diameter of the filler contained in the anisotropic conductive material E. For example, if the filler has a diameter of 3 μm, the recess depth is preferably set to 2 μm, and if the filler has a diameter of 10 μm, the recess depth is preferably set to 8 to 9 μm. By setting the recess depth as described above, a part of the filler that fits into the recess of the

In addition, the arrow T in Figure 3 indicates the transport direction of the continuous body C of the
The adhesive application process P1 is carried out by an
Examples of adhesive A that can be used in the adhesive application process P1 include acrylic adhesives, urethane adhesives, silicone adhesives, and rubber adhesives. In this embodiment, from the viewpoint of applying adhesive A to the transported continuous body C using a flexographic printing or letterpress printing method, it is preferable to use an ultraviolet-curing adhesive. For this reason, the
The
Each of the
The thickness of the adhesive A applied to the continuum C is preferably 3 μm or more and 25 μm or less. If it is 3 μm or more, sufficient adhesive strength is obtained when adhering the metal foil continuum M to the continuum C of the
In addition, in this embodiment, from the viewpoint of holding the

Then, the metal foil placement process P2 is carried out by the metal

Next, the cutting process P3 is performed by the
The
The
Then, removal process P4 is carried out by the

<Comparative Example 2>
The specimen of Comparative Example 2 was produced under the same conditions as Example 2, except that an antenna without a rough surface was used.
<Evaluation Results>
The adhesive strength between the antenna and the IC chip mounted on the antenna was evaluated by a Die Shear test. The applied load when the IC chip peeled off from the antenna was expressed as the average value of the results of five tests performed under the same conditions for each specimen. The results are shown in Table 1.
As shown in Table 1, comparing Comparative Example 1 and Example 1, by forming a rough surface portion S on the antenna surface, the applied load when the IC chip peeled off from the antenna increased from 6.0 N to 8.0 N, even when the same anisotropic conductive adhesive was used. Therefore, it became clear that the adhesive strength between the IC chip and the antenna was increased by forming a rough surface portion on the antenna and connecting the IC chip to the rough surface portion via an anisotropic conductive adhesive (anisotropic conductive material).
Comparing Comparative Example 2 with Example 2, it was found that when the same anisotropic conductive adhesive was used, the one with the rough surface was able to withstand a higher applied load.
