Description
The present invention relates to a tilting gutter.
Tilting runners have been proposed for some time now, which receive molten iron tapped through a tapping runner extending from a blast furnace. After receiving the molten iron, the tilting runner tilts to dump the molten iron into a transport vessel such as a torpedo car or molten iron ladle.
The tilting gutter is formed by pouring fluid castable material on-site.
The tilting runner is positioned lower than the outlet of the tapping runner. Therefore, when the molten iron moves to the tilting runner, the part of the tilting runner where the molten iron that falls from the tapping runner lands (hereinafter referred to as the "melt contact part") suffers significant damage to the castable material due to the heat of the molten iron and the impact caused by the falling molten iron. As a result, the life of the tilting runner is shortened, so the melt contact part is required to be not only corrosion resistant but also wear resistant.
In response to this problem,
However, in conventional tilting runners, it was difficult to increase the size of the fixed-sized bricks due to manufacturing issues, meaning that the damaged area of the molten metal contact area was formed only by the fixed-sized bricks, making it difficult to protect the tilting runner.
As a result, in conventional tilting runners, pre-damage occurs to the castable material around the area where the molten iron hits the runner. When the castable material around the shaped bricks is damaged, the shaped bricks are heated from multiple sides by the molten iron, making them more susceptible to cracking, and the damage accelerates, preventing a significant improvement in the lifespan of the tilting runner.
Not only that, it also becomes easier for the molten iron to penetrate into the joints where the castable material and the shaped bricks come into contact, making it easier for the molten iron to reach the underside of the shaped bricks.
Specifically, after the molten iron hits the shaped brick (the molten iron hitting portion), it flows from the top surface of the shaped brick along the top surface of the castable material. If the molten iron continues to flow, the top surfaces of the shaped brick and the castable material are worn down.
The amount of wear is greater for materials with higher porosity. Because castable material has a higher porosity than shaped bricks, it wears at a greater rate than shaped bricks. This wear causes the top surface of the castable material to be gouged out. As wear of the castable material progresses, the sides of the shaped bricks become exposed. In this state, the molten iron flowing into the tilting runner flows along the surfaces (top and side) of the shaped bricks, and penetrates into the joints between the shaped bricks and the castable material. The molten iron that has entered the joints flows along the sides of the shaped bricks and wraps around to the bottom side of the shaped bricks. The molten iron that has wrapped around causes the shaped bricks to lift up. As a result, the shaped bricks come off the tilting runner, leading to damage to the tilting runner.
The present invention was made in consideration of the above problems, and aims to provide a tilting runner in which shaped bricks are embedded in castable refractory, and which has excellent durability in the vicinity of the shaped bricks that receive the molten iron.
The tilting runner of the present invention, which solves the above problems, is a tilting runner having a tiltable shallow-bottomed vessel-shaped tilting runner main body, a castable layer made of castable material formed on the inner surface of the tilting runner main body, and a molten iron contact part that is embedded in the castable layer with its upper surface exposed and receives the poured molten iron on its upper surface. The molten iron contact part is characterized by having a brick main body made of a fixed-shaped brick made of any of the alumina-magnesia-carbon, alumina-silicon carbide-magnesia-carbon, and alumina-silicon carbide-rose stone-carbon materials that contact the poured molten iron, and an outer peripheral block part made of a frame-shaped precast block made of an alumina-spinel-silicon carbide material into which the brick main body fits and along which the molten iron flows.
The tilting runner of the present invention has an outer block section made of a precast block with a higher porosity than the brick main body section but a lower porosity than castable material, on the outer periphery of the brick main body section that is hit by the poured molten pig iron. This configuration reduces damage to the joints between the brick main body section and the outer block section, and also reduces the penetration of molten pig iron into the joints, suppressing the lifting of the brick main body section. As a result, damage to the molten pig iron contact section is reduced, and the durability of the tilting runner is improved.
The tilting gutter of the present invention will be specifically explained below using an embodiment.

The residual dimensional change rate is the ratio of change in dimensions before and after heating and cooling after heating to a specified temperature. The residual dimensional change rate is measured by placing a sample processed to 30 mm x 30 mm x 100 mm in a container filled with carbon-based powder, heating it at 3°C per minute using an electric furnace to a specified temperature, and allowing it to cool naturally after the test is completed, and measuring the dimensions of a 100 mm section before and after the test.
With the residual dimensional change rate of 0.1% or more, both the

Then, the

In this embodiment of the
In this embodiment of the
As a result, the amount of damage to the
In contrast, as shown in the partially enlarged cross-sectional view of FIG. 8, when the

Because the residual dimensional change rate of the
Furthermore, since the residual dimensional change rate of the
In addition, by keeping the absolute value of the difference in the residual dimensional change rate between the
In this embodiment of the tilting
In this embodiment of the
