Description
The present invention relates to a dispersant for wet papermaking, a dispersion composition for wet papermaking, and a fiber sheet.
BACKGROUND ART Inorganic fibers such as carbon fibers, glass fibers, and metal fibers are generally excellent in heat resistance, durability, corrosion resistance, and the like, and are therefore used for various purposes such as housing equipment and automobiles. For example, carbon fiber is widely used as a base material for composite materials such as space equipment, office equipment, audio equipment, and sports equipment. Further, glass paper in which glass fiber is made into a sheet shape is used for applications such as high-performance air filters or battery separators, heat insulating materials, and sound absorbing materials.
Such an inorganic fiber is often used in the form of a sheet by dispersing in an aqueous dispersion medium to form an aqueous dispersion composition and then removing the dispersion medium from the dispersion composition.
BACKGROUND ART Conventionally, as a method of processing inorganic fibers into a sheet (nonwoven fabric), a wet papermaking method is known (Patent Document 1). However, inorganic fibers have a hydrophobic surface and their dispersibility in water is significantly inferior to those of hydrophilic pulp fibers, etc. It has been considered difficult to produce an inorganic fiber sheet suitable for the method.
When preparing an aqueous dispersion composition containing inorganic fibers and the like as a dispersoid, since inorganic fibers and the like alone often have insufficient dispersibility as described above, the fluidity and storage stability of the dispersion composition Dispersants have been used for the purpose of improvement. For example, as a dispersant for dispersing an inorganic powder or an organic powder, a low molecular weight dispersant such as various surfactants, or a high molecular weight dispersant obtained by adding propylene oxide and ethylene oxide to an amino compound having 1 to 5 nitrogen atoms. Agents (Patent Document 2) and the like have been proposed. However, with the demand for finer and higher concentration of dispersoids such as inorganic fibers, conventional dispersants sometimes cause insufficient dispersion, resulting in thickening of the aqueous dispersion composition due to aggregation of the dispersoids. And settling of dispersoids.
Patent Document 3 discloses that in dispersion of carbon nanofibers having a diameter of 1 nm and a length of several μm to 10 μm, borax is added to an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol to prepare a gel-like dispersion, and the carbon nanofibers are dispersed in the dispersion It has been proposed that when dispersed, aggregation can be prevented.

Patent Document 7 discloses, as a dispersant for dispersing a carbon filler in a liquid medium comprising an aqueous solvent or a non-aqueous solvent, glycerylated chitosan, hydroxyethyl chitosan, hydroxypropyl chitosan, hydroxybutyl chitosan, hydroxybutyl hydroxypropyl chitosan, and the like. Patent Document 8 discloses that in order to uniformly and stably disperse a carbon material in an organic solvent, the carbon material includes a structural unit (a1) represented by the following formula 1 and a structural unit (a2) represented by the following formula 2, A carbon material comprising a copolymer (A) having a mass ratio (a1) / (a2) of a1) / (a2) of 90/10 to 10/90 and a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 500,000. Patent Document 9 discloses that a cationic fatty acid amide has been conventionally used as a dispersant for glass fibers. Patent Document 10 proposes to use a nonionic surfactant having an HLB of 15 or more as a glass fiber dispersant. Patent Literature 11 discloses a polyethylene oxide-based water-soluble polymer, an acrylic acid-based polymer, and a carboxylic acid-type polymer surfactant as a dispersant for polyphenylene sulfide fiber.
However, the inventions of Patent Documents 2 to 8 are all aimed at dispersing carbon nanotubes and carbon fibers of nanometer to micrometer order, and mainly disperse them in an organic solvent system. Dispersing longer fibers in an aqueous solvent has not been considered. Further, even if the dispersants described in Patent Documents 2 to 8 are used, the dispersibility of inorganic fibers such as carbon fibers is insufficient, so that in the wet papermaking method described in Patent Document 1, the sheet is industrially manufactured. It was difficult to produce efficiently and maintain good formation. Even with the use of the inventions of Patent Documents 9 to 11, it was difficult to uniformly disperse relatively long fibers (1/2 inch (1.27 cm) or more) of carbon fibers and glass fibers.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a dispersant for wet papermaking and a dispersion composition for wet papermaking that are excellent in dispersibility particularly to inorganic fibers such as carbon fiber and glass fiber, and organic fibers such as polyester fiber and polyphenylene sulfide fiber. And It is another object of the present invention to provide a fiber sheet whose formation is extremely uniform.
The inventors proceeded to study to solve the above problem, and by selecting a dispersant having a specific chemical structure, inorganic fibers and organic fibers can be stably dispersed, and the dispersant was used. By applying the dispersion composition to a wet papermaking method, it has been found that a fiber sheet having an extremely excellent formation can be obtained, and the present invention has been completed.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described with examples. However, the present invention is not limited by the following description.
In the present invention, "formation" refers to "uniformity of fiber dispersion" with reference to the description of pages 126 to 127 of "Shinkeishi Pulp Encyclopedia" (published on March 10, 1973) edited by the Japan Pulp and Paper Association. It is. When the formation of the fiber sheet is deteriorated, the strength of the fiber sheet obtained by the wet papermaking method is remarkably reduced. Therefore, a fiber sheet having a good formation is required. Here, as a formation evaluation method, (1) a method in which a fiber sheet is viewed through sunlight or illumination light, and (2) an in-plane distribution of a transmission amount of visible light, beta ray, or the like is scanned by a minute spot. Although a method of acquiring digital image data and analyzing the image has been proposed, in the present invention, visual evaluation was performed by the method (1).

When the compounding amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether type surfactant, alkyl betaine type amphoteric surfactant and polyether type urethane resin is less than 2 parts by mass, carbon fibers and The dispersibility of polyester fibers and the like is reduced, and when a wet composition-containing dispersion composition containing the fibers is formed into a sheet by a wet papermaking method, uniform formation may not be obtained. Conversely, if the compounding amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether type surfactant, alkyl betaine type amphoteric surfactant and polyether type urethane resin exceeds 30 parts by mass, Even if the effect of preventing aggregation of fibers and organic fibers can be exerted, the strength of the wet paper when making the fiber sheet is reduced, and the fiber sheet may be frequently broken.
[Effects and uses of dispersants]
Next, the effects and applications of the wet papermaking dispersant of the present invention will be described.
The functions required of the dispersant are (a) breaking the fibers apart and (b) stabilizing the broken fibers without agglomeration.
First, when a dispersant is added to the fibers that are agglomerated in the dispersion medium, the dispersant is adsorbed to the fibers, and the fibers are easily wetted by the dispersion medium. By doing so, the air existing between the fibers is easily replaced with the dispersion medium, and the agglomerated fibers are broken apart. Next, the dispersant adsorbed on the surface of the loose fibers prevents the fibers from approaching each other and stabilizes the dispersion composition. This is considered to be repulsion due to the charge of the dispersant and stabilization of repulsion between fibers due to steric hindrance (intermolecular repulsion) of the dispersant.
The wet papermaking dispersant of the present invention is, as described above, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether surfactants, alkyl betaine amphoteric surfactants, and polyether urethane resins. is there. The mechanism by which these compounds exhibit excellent dispersibility in inorganic fibers, organic fibers, and the like is not clear, but is presumed by the following mechanism. In other words, by controlling the chain length of the alkyl chain of the polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether type surfactant or the alkyl betaine type amphoteric surfactant, it becomes easy to be adsorbed on the hydrophobic fiber surface, and the intermolecular repulsion after the adsorption causes It is considered that the dispersion is stabilized. In addition, polyether type urethane resin is relatively easily adsorbed on the surface of the fiber where the urethane bond is hydrophobic, and the cohesive force of the urethane resin itself is strong. It is thought that there is an effect to do.
The wet papermaking dispersant of the present invention exhibits excellent dispersibility even in a mixture of the dispersoid and another substance. Specifically, for example, inorganic particles such as CNTs (carbon nanotubes), organic fibers such as polyester fibers, aramid fibers, and polyphenylene sulfide fibers; inorganic fibers such as carbon fibers and glass fibers; and ionic additives such as inorganic salts. Also exhibits excellent dispersibility for mixtures of

Fiber. Examples of commercially available products include "Basalt chopped strand" manufactured by JCK, "Basalt chopped strand" manufactured by Artecros, and the like.
In the present invention, the inorganic fibers and the organic fibers may be either those composed of continuous fibers or those composed of discontinuous fibers. Fibers are preferred, and chopped fibers are more preferred.
The thickness (diameter) of the inorganic fiber and the organic fiber is not particularly limited, but is about 1 to 20 μm, preferably about 3 to 18 μm. If the thickness (diameter) of the fiber is smaller than 1 μm, it is not preferable because it may have carcinogenicity when introduced into the human body during the manufacturing process or during use. When the thickness (diameter) of the fiber is larger than 20 μm, the uniformity of dispersion may be deteriorated.
Further, the fiber length of the inorganic fiber and the organic fiber is preferably 1 to 50 mm, more preferably 3 to 30 mm. If it exceeds 50 mm, it may be difficult to maintain a good dispersion state. Here, the fiber length refers to the length of a single fiber, and can be measured by measuring the length in the fiber axis direction with a vernier caliper, or by taking out the single fiber and observing it with a microscope.

(Additive)
The dispersion composition for wet papermaking of the present invention may further contain an additive, if necessary, as an optional component. Specifically, for example, the dispersion composition for wet papermaking of the present invention may be a known penetrating agent, a wetting agent, a defoaming agent, a thickening agent, a viscosity adjusting agent, a pH adjusting agent, etc., in a range that does not impair the dispersibility. And may be included as an additive. When the dispersion composition for wet papermaking of the present invention is formed into a fiber sheet by a wet papermaking method, it is preferable to add a thickener to the dispersion composition for wet papermaking. The thickener is not particularly limited, but it is preferable to blend an anionic polyacrylamide having a viscosity average molecular weight of 5,000,000 to 15,000,000. Examples of the anionic polyacrylamide include a sodium salt of (meth) acrylamide and an acrylic acid copolymer. As commercially available products, for example, trade names “Pamall”, “Pamall 120”, “Pamall H”, “Pamall HQ”, “Pamall M”, “Pamall SQ”, manufactured by Meisei Chemical Co., Ltd., manufactured by MT Aqua Polymer Co. Trade name "Sumifloc FA40", "Sumifloc FA40H", "Sumifloc FA41HC", "Sumifloc FB40", "Sumifloc FA50", "Sumifloc FA50H", "Sumifloc FA70", trade name "Takifloc A-102" manufactured by Taki Kagaku , "Takiflock A-102T", "Takifloc A-112T", "Takifloc A-132", "Takifloc A-103", "Takifloc A-103E", "Takifloc A-103T", "Takifloc A-103TE" , "Takiflock A-113T""TakifurokkuA-133","TakifurokkuA-104","TakifurokkuA-104T","TakifurokkuA-105T","TakifurokkuA-106T", and "Takifurokku A-177T" and the like.
Further, the dispersion composition for wet papermaking of the present invention may contain, for example, an ionic additive such as an organic acid, an inorganic acid, an organic base, an inorganic base or a salt thereof as an additive.
The viscosity average molecular weight (Mw) of the anionic polyacrylamide in the present application is a value calculated by dissolving polyacrylamide in a 1N aqueous solution of sodium nitrate, determining the intrinsic viscosity [η] at 30 ° C., and using the following conversion formula. It is.
Intrinsic viscosity formula: [η] = 3.73 × 10 −4 × (Mw) × 0.66
According to the formula, the viscosity average molecular weight can be determined not only for nonionic polyacrylamide but also for cationic, anionic, and amphoteric polymers (see paragraph [0013] of JP-A-2003-21823, JP-A-2002-030282, paragraph [0013], JP-A-11-310615, paragraph [0037], JP-A-2010-158668, paragraph [0047], and the like.
The compounding amount of the thickener (anionic polyacrylamide) is preferably 10 to 1000 ppm in the wet papermaking dispersion composition. When the compounding amount of the thickener is less than 10 ppm, when the dispersion composition for wet papermaking containing the dispersoid is formed into a sheet by a wet papermaking method, formation may be insufficient. On the other hand, if the amount of the thickener exceeds 1000 ppm, the viscosity of the wet papermaking dispersion composition containing the dispersoid becomes too high, and the speed of the wet papermaking may be extremely low.
Next, a method for preparing the wet papermaking dispersion composition of the present invention will be described. The dispersion composition for wet papermaking of the present invention comprises, in a dispersion medium, at least one selected from the group consisting of the polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether surfactant, the alkyl betaine amphoteric surfactant and the polyether urethane resin. A dispersant, which is a compound, and a dispersoid such as inorganic fibers or organic fibers are added, and the mixture is stirred (disintegrated) with a pulper or the like, then transferred to a chest or the like, and an anionic polyacrylamide thickener is additionally added. It is preferable to prepare by further stirring. As the stirring method, a known technique may be used. Specifically, for example, various types of beaters such as various disintegrators (pulpers) and Niagara beaters, or various types of refiners such as a single disk refiner and a double disk refiner; Can be dispersed using a mixer or the like.
[III.
[III. Method for producing fiber sheet]
A fiber sheet can be produced from the dispersion composition for wet papermaking containing the above-mentioned inorganic fiber and organic fiber by a method called a wet papermaking method in which a dispersion medium is removed to form a sheet. As the paper machine used for the wet papermaking method, a known paper machine such as an inclined wire paper machine, a circular net paper machine, a fourdrinier paper machine, and a short net paper machine can be used.
When a fiber sheet is manufactured by such a wet papermaking method, there is a possibility that the (wet paper) strength as a handleable sheet will be insufficient only by physical entanglement between fibers. At that time, a binder may be added to bind the fibers.
When a binder is added, in the step of forming a fiber sheet by a wet papermaking method, a solution containing the binder or an emulsion containing the binder is internally added, or after forming the fiber sheet, the fiber sheet is coated or impregnated with the binder. And a step of drying by heating. Examples of such a binder include acrylic resin, styrene-acryl resin, epoxy resin, phenol resin, urethane resin, polyamide (nylon) resin, polyester resin, modified polyester resin (core-sheath structure), polypropylene resin, polyethylene resin, and polyvinyl alcohol. For example, a resin used in general nonwoven fabric production, such as a resin that melts with hot water, can be used.
Further, in order to further improve the dispersibility, the step of obtaining the dispersion composition may include adding 10 to 1000 ppm of an anionic polyacrylamide having a viscosity average molecular weight of 5,000,000 to 15,000,000. In this case, it is preferable to initially disperse inorganic fibers or organic fibers using the wet papermaking dispersant of the present invention, and then add an anionic polyacrylamide thickener to stabilize the dispersion. When the dispersant for wet papermaking and the anionic polyacrylamide thickener are added in this order, the order of addition is reversed, or the dispersoid is added to a liquid (dispersion medium) in which both are added together to disintegrate. It is possible to obtain a better dispersion state than in the case where it is performed. By doing so, uniform dispersion of inorganic fibers and the like, which has been difficult in the past, can be performed well and promptly in wet papermaking. ) Can be easily obtained. For this reason, according to the present method, it is possible to efficiently produce an inorganic fiber sheet or the like excellent in formation, and to form a fiber-reinforced plastic molded article or the like by compounding with various resins.
