Description
第3の面において、本発明は、(1)有機ポリマーまたは2以上の異なる有機ポリマーのブレンドの1以上の層であって、一つの層の有機ポリマーが他の層の有機ポリマーと同じかまたは異なるものと、(2)第1の面の塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー組成物の1以上の層とを含む多層構造である。
(A)塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子の水性ディスパージョンにラテックスの形で添加剤を加えること;および、
(B)ポリマー粒子の表面でそのラテックス添加剤を凝固させて、ポリマー粒子をコートすること、を含む塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー組成物を製造するための方法である。
(2)〔2〕のポリマー組成物の1以上の層とを含む多層構造。
(B)ポリマー粒子の表面でラテックス添加剤を凝固させて、ポリマー粒子をコートすること、を含む塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマー組成物を製造するための方法。
(2)〔23〕のポリマー組成物の1以上の層とを含む多層構造。
(B)ポリマー粒子の表面でラテックス添加剤を凝固させて、ポリマー粒子をコートすること、を含むエチレンビニルアルコールポリマー組成物を製造するため〕の方法。

塩化ビニルポリマーに対して、重合される塩化ビニルモノマーの効果的な量は、一般にポリマーの60〜100重量パーセント(質量%)の範囲にある。
重合が完結した後、塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマーまたは樹脂粒子の水性懸濁液またはディスパージョンが形成される。モノマーを含まないディスパージョンを形成するために、95℃まで反応器を加熱しつつ、大気圧に反応器をベントすることによって、先ず残留モノマーを除去することが好ましい。そのディスパージョンは、次いでバッチストリッパーへ移され、そこで残っている残留モノマーが90℃で減圧(vacuum)ストリップされる。その後、ディスパージョンは冷却され、取り出され、脱水され、および樹脂は集められ、更に乾燥される。
塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子の水性ディスパージョンは、(1)脱水されたが乾燥されていない塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマーに、または乾燥した塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマーに水を加え、および(2)塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子の水性ディスパージョンを形成するのに充分な温度で、混合物を攪拌することによっても形成することができる。
ラテックス添加剤を塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子の水性ディスパージョンに加えた後に、ラテックス添加剤は、粒子をコートするためにポリマー粒子の表面で凝固される。ポリマー粒子の表面上のラテックス添加剤の凝固は、機械的手段により、またはラテックス添加剤を含む塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子の水性ディスパージョンに化学凝固剤を加えることによって行うことができる。ラテックスコートされた塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子のディスパージョンは、次いで冷却され、取り出され、脱水され、およびラテックスコートされた塩化ビニリデンポリマーまたは塩化ビニルポリマー粒子は集められ、更に乾燥される。
多層構造は、(1)有機ポリマーまたは2以上の異なる有機ポリマーのブレンドの1以上の層であって、一つの層の有機ポリマーが他の層の有機ポリマーと同じかまたは異なるものと、(2)本発明の塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマー組成物の1以上の層とを含む。
多層構造は、本発明の塩化ビニリデンまたは塩化ビニルポリマー組成物の1以上の層と、有機ポリマーまたは2以上の異なる有機ポリマーのブレンドを含む残りの層とを含み、一つの層の有機ポリマーが、他の層の有機ポリマーと同じまたは異なっている5または7個の層をも含むこともできる。
本発明の実施において多層構造を製造するために使用可能な有機ポリマーは、ポリオレフィン、ポリアミド、芳香族モノマーに基づくポリマー、および塩素化ポリオレフィンを含む。
本発明の実施において使用可能なポリアミドは、ナイロン−6、ナイロン−66およびナイロン12等の種々のグレードのナイロンを含む。
本発明の実施において好適に使用可能なポリエステルは、ポリ(エチレン)テレフタレート(PET)である。PETは、エチレングリコールとテレフタル酸またはエチレングリコールとテレフタル酸ジメチルから製造される。
本発明の実施において好適に使用可能なアクリロニトリルポリマーは、バレックス(BAREX)(商標)210、オハイオ州のBP ケミカルズによって製造されるゴム変性アクリロニトリル−メチルアクリレートコポリマー、およびロパック(LOPAC;商標)、高ニトリル アクリロニトリル−スチレンコポリマーである。
2000mLのビーカーに、脱水されたが、乾燥されなかった(460g)塩化ビニリデンコポリマー(91.5重量パーセント(質量%)の塩化ビニリデン/l8.5重量パーセント(質量%)のメチルアクリレート)樹脂および水(467g)を加えた。混合物を、磁気撹拌機で攪拌し、90℃まで加熱した。メタブレンL−1000ラテックス、50パーセント固体(16g)を加え、2分間攪拌させた。ラテックスを化学的に凝固させるために、塩化カルシウム、35パーセント(6g)を加えた。水が再びクリヤーになることによって決定されるように、凝固は2分で完結した。ラテックスコート樹脂を脱水して、60℃で一晩中乾燥させた。ラテックスコート樹脂の化学分析により、絶乾(bone dry)の樹脂固体に基づき、1.96重量パーセント(質量%)のメタブレンL−1000であると判明した。メタブレンL−1000ラテックスは、エルフ アトケム・ノースアメリカ社から得られるアクリル系ポリマーラテックスであって、2−プロペン酸 2−メチル−ブチルエステル、ブチル 2−プロペネート/メチル 2−メチル−2−プロペネートポリマー、およびラウリル硫酸ナトリウムを含む。
例2
メタブレンL−1000ラテックスに代えてサラン(SARAN;商標)樹脂F−278ラテックスを用いた以外は、例1で記述した手順に従った。サラン(商標)樹脂F−278は、7.3重量%(質量%)のメタクリロニトリル、3.2重量%(質量%)のメチルメタクリレート、および89.5重量%(質量%)の塩化ビニリデンを含む塩化ビニリデンポリマーラテックスである。
