Description
各画素に配置されたスイッチング素子と、複数の画素に亘って形成された共通電極と、前記共通電極を覆う絶縁膜と、前記スイッチング素子と電気的に接続されるとともに前記絶縁膜の上において各画素に形成され前記共通電極と向かい合うスリットが形成された画素電極と、前記画素電極を覆うとともに前記スリットの長軸に対して交差する方向に配向処理された第1配向膜と、を備えた第1基板と、前記第1配向膜と対向するとともに前記第1配向膜の配向処理方向と平行且つ逆向きに配向処理された第2配向膜を備えた第2基板と、前記第1基板の前記第1配向膜と前記第2基板の前記第2配向膜との間に保持されるとともに、75℃の転移温度Tniにおいて誘電率異方性Δεが+3.3以上、+5.3以下の材料からなる液晶層と、を備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置が提供される。

Claims (3)
- 各画素に配置されたスイッチング素子と、複数の画素に亘って形成された共通電極と、
前記共通電極を覆う絶縁膜と、前記スイッチング素子と電気的に接続されるとともに前記絶縁膜の上において各画素に形成され前記共通電極と向かい合うスリットが形成された画素電極と、前記画素電極を覆うとともに前記スリットの長軸に対して交差する方向に配向処理された第1配向膜と、を備えた第1基板と、
前記第1配向膜と対向するとともに前記第1配向膜の配向処理方向と平行且つ逆向きに配向処理された第2配向膜を備えた第2基板と、
前記第1基板の前記第1配向膜と前記第2基板の前記第2配向膜との間に保持されるとともに、75℃の転移温度において誘電率異方性が+3.3以上、+5.3以下の材料からなる液晶層と、
を備え、
前記画素電極と前記共通電極との間に印加する液晶駆動電圧の最大値は5V以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 最大値付近の液晶駆動電圧を印加した際に、透過率が最大となる請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- さらに、前記第1基板の外面に配置された第1偏光板及び第2基板の外面に配置された第2偏光板を備え、前記第1偏光板の第1偏光軸と前記第2偏光板の第2偏光軸とが直交することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
